On Tuesday, December 18th, A.F.I.R.E. of Pasco County held their Annual Christmas Party which was held this year at the Knights of Columbus, Council #5869, in Port Richey.

The individuals who attend the adult day training program for developmentally disabled, performed a play “The Christmas Cards” for approximately 150 family members, friends and med waiver providers. Greg Giordano, assistant to State Senator Mike Fasano, watched them perform and afterwards offered his congratulations and warm wishes.

The A.F.I.R.E. students began practicing for their performance in July under the guidance of Teaching Director, Denise Haystrand, and assistant teachers, Debby Brown, Chrissy Frencl and Dolores Purnell.

The show ended with a “finale” of the students singing along with using sign language to 3 verses of “Silent Night”. Needless to say, they received a standing ovation by the audience members, many of whom had tears in their eyes.
